Modern Names
editSome of Melville's names differ significantly from modern names. My best guesses:
- Roca Redondo - Rock Rodondo (note: page does not currently exist)
- Santa Fe Island - Barrington Isle
- Floreana Island - Charles's Isle (this is the King, not the naturalist. Charles Darwin hadn't
- Santa Cruz Island (Galápagos) - Norfolk Isle (here)
- Española Island - Hood's Isle
Style question: which is preferable, explicit links: ...Rock Rodondo (now called Roca Redonda)... or implicit ones: ... Rock Rodondo... ? Aldenrw (talk) 17:44, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- Neither. It's better to call them by their actual names and have Melville's period ones in parentheses as needed. — LlywelynII 09:06, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
Section "The Sketches" renamed "Plot"
editThe section "The Sketches" offers a summary of the sketches, and therefore should be titled "Plot". So I have given it that title.MackyBeth (talk) 12:38, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
There were 11 sketches
editat least in the original edition, as linked. Did this change with later publication? — LlywelynII 09:06, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
