Alumnae?

edit

I removed this

Kumiko Hashimoto- A former Priminister's wife Makiko Fujino - The house of Representatives Shinako Tsuchiya - The minister of Foreign Affairs

From the foot of the article. More alumnae maybe? Tama1988 (talk) 11:12, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Assessment

edit

Lists need to be turned into prose, sources cited, and expanded to get to Start class. Aboutmovies (talk) 09:32, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gaahhhhh.
Sources cited? The article says extremely little. What it says is a combination of (a) information that appears on the university's website and that nobody would challenge, and (b) lists of people who've been at the university, information that's derived from the articles on those people. I quote "WP:V":
All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged should be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation.
Are you challenging this material, or saying that it is likely to be challenged? If not, I see no need for any further "sourcing" of what's already in the article. (This is not to deny the importance of sourcing of material that could beneficially be added to the article.)
The article's a mere stub, of course. Rearrange its lists into running prose and it would still be a stub.
Actually I don't care whether anybody cares to call it a stub or a start. What's important is how good it is. Now, it's bad. I hope that it attracts editors who add to it, intelligently. Tama1988 (talk) 10:17, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
As to challenging the info, you may know this, but I, and I will bet you must readers, will not know this. Thus, how do we know it is not WP:OR? Next, a claim to be one of the oldest is a claim that often will be challenged, and the university's website is not a good source. Currently the article could be deleted for failing notability as nothing is cited using reliable, third party sources (note I am not saying it should be deleted). Also, it is best to get use to citing most things added if you want to ever reaching WP:GA. As to the list to prose, I am not saying just turning it into "running prose". It means convert it into prose, not just another form of a list. That is, develop each bullet point into a sentence or two (e.g. The college of liberal arts contains five departments and one graduate school. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature was added in XXXX and has XXX students. Majors in Foreign Languages and Literature include...). As to improvements, feel free to make them (see {{sofixit}}). If you expect others to do the work, you may be sorely disappointed, especially taken in context of your reply to suggestions on how to improve the article. You're certainly right about the assertion that it's one of the oldest women's universities in Japan, which I hastily hadn't noticed. Tama1988 (talk) 06:55, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
