Illustrator or Screenwriter?
editI disagree with the redesignation of "Wallace Smith (screenwriter)" to "Wallace Smith (illustrator)". Smith's primary occupation in life was a reporter/writer/screenwriter, as reflected in his L.A. Times obituary. A small subculture of art fans might agree with Konivega's statement that "Wallace Smith is going to be remembered most of all for his book illustration art on books and graphics like that historical one done for Pendledon's Round-Up", but such views would be a minority. From my viewpoint, Smith's legacy for screenwriting, writing and reporting (Smith was one of Hearst's star reporters, and his dispatches were the vanguard of sensational reporting on the William Desmond Taylor murder) far overshadowed his legacy as a graphic artist.
