Henry Goodeve

edit
  • ... that on retiring to England in 1845, surgeon Henry Goodeve brought four Brahmins with him to complete their medical training?

  • This article is new enough and long enough. The main hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues. I am just querying the wording of the hook because "surgeon" is not cited inline and does not seem the best way of describing him. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:42, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Thanks for reviewing @Cwmhiraeth:. He was a professor of anatomy, surgeon, obstetrician, FRCS by election and FRCP by qualification. So you are correct, it appears he is physician first. However, he appears as an author in his book with prefix surgeon. He certainly did medicine, surgery and obstetrics at a time when there was much overlap. Should I add or be changing any citations/references? Maybe @Philafrenzy: has another word in mind to substitute surgeon. [1]. Whispyhistory (talk) 06:18, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
It's a bit difficult to know how best to describe him, but f you add a suitable citation I will give this hook a tick. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:29, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
Added inline citation to 'surgeon' in article. Whispyhistory (talk) 06:57, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
I don't mind which word is used. I think IMS men were often working alone in remote locations, at least at first, so probably had to do all these things. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:56, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
  • Sorry, I watchlisted this nomination but seem to have failed to notice that my suggestion had been actioned. I am happy with the hook now, so this is good to go. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 08:19, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I don't see the hook fact about "bringing Hindus back with him" in the article. Yoninah (talk) 21:27, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
  • thanks @Yoninah:, matched hook and article to make clear. Is it okay? This retirement he utilized for the development of a scheme he had already conceived - namely, the extension to high-caste and other Hindus of the benefits of English education. He brought with him to London four young Brahmins, placed them at University College,[2] Whispyhistory (talk) 22:51, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you. Restoring tick per Cwmhiraeth's review. Yoninah (talk) 10:12, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
