William Geddes (1840 - 31 October 1884) was a Scottish painter.[1]
Life
editHis father was William Geddes [Snr] (16 April 1806 - 29 July 1866), a stonemason from Glamis, Forfarshire.
His mother was Agnes Ross (8 February 1804 - 14 July 1878) from Clunie in Perthshire. William [Snr] and Agnes married on 7 January 1832 in Blairgowrie.
William Geddes was born in Blairgowrie in 1840.[2][3]
He married Margaret Ewan (12 March 1842 - 15 November 1924) from Aberdeen. They married in Leith on 15 November 1864.
One of their sons Ewan Geddes (19 October 1865 - 13 December 1935) also become an artist.

editHe died at his home in Gowanbrae, Blairgowrie on 31 October 1884.[4]
