The basics
editEric82oslo is the Wikipedestrian whose real name is Bjørn Erik Opheim. Grown up and still living in Oslo, the capital and largest city of Norway. Born on December 27th, 1982, I'm now 23 years old, of which I lived for a year in the city of Quillota, Chile, South America, thus speaking Spanish fluently. I travelled with the great multi-national organization AFS, serving today student exchanges in 75 countries world-wide. :) As I've been a major Eurovision fan since Carola won the contest for Sweden with the catchy song, brilliant dancing choreography and outstanding vocal performance of Fångad av en stormvind in 1991, most of my contributions so far on Wikipedia have been related to the Eurovision Song Contest; either concerning national finals (NFs), ESC and NF artists, or other Eurovision related stuff, like songs, composers and commentators. Thus, as you can see, I'm more than delighted that Carola is back in the contest this year, 15 years after her victory, with the really happy tune that is Invincible. I actually have a feeling she will win again, though I admit the competition is tough and strong - I think her strongest competitor will be the Finnish hard-rock band Lordi! :)
As can be seen throughout my user page, I'm also very interested in politics. Until the Chinese super power is fully surged in a few years, there are still mainly two super powers in the world for the time being; the United States and the European Union. I've already begun showing somewhat interest in the US presidential election of 2008, where it right now might seem very likely to be two women running against each other; Hillary Clinton for the Democrats - which already seems almost certain, and the current Afro-American Foreign Minister (or Secretary of State as it is called in the USA), Condoleezza Rice for the Republican Party, though facing tough competition against especially former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and popular politician John McCain. Though, if these predictions will come through, we might get both the first female and the first Afro-American president in the world's mightiest country - that would at least for me be something to celebrate! :) Although I would support the Democratic candidate in any case of course, I can't see Condoleeza mis-ruling the country and the rest of the world in the way George W. Bush has done!
