What this page is about:
The Photographic Masters' Guild was created to recognize and honour the very best photographers and their work on the English Wikipedia.

In some ways this award was created to supplement the Photographic Barnstar, which through misapplication and overuse has lost prestige and respect. I've seen examples where a user has been awarded a Photographic Barnstar for merely uploading a few graphs made in Excel - or worse - just because they haven't yet got one in their collection. The Guild aims at providing an award which recognizes only the true photographic masters Wikipedia is lucky enough to have as contributors.

How to get the Guild Barnstar:
The award will primarily be given out by yours truly to deserving photographers, although any member of the Guild also has the right to award a user as long as the fulfill the following requirements:

  • The user must have a minimum of 10 Featured Pictures which they have taken (ie no NASA shots!)
  • At least one of those featured pictures must have been promoted with either:
    • a minimum of 80% support with a minimum of 11 support votes
    • or 100% support with a minimum of 9 votes
Users who meet these requirements will be awarded the Guild Barnstar and are encouraged to place it on their userpage. After receiving their award, users should choose five of their very best images to put into the Guild Gallery. To award a user put {{Subst:User:Fir0002/Guild/Award}} onto their talkpage.

Other functions of the Guild:
Forum. Members (users who have been awarded the Guild Barnstar) are encouraged to use the forum to discuss any photo related topics. For example, lens/camera reviews, requests for photo reviews, technique/software discussions etc.
Members. This page lists all the users who currently have the award (and hence are members of the Guild). It will also provide a short profile of these users.
Gallery. Collection of photos from members.
