Jack is taking a long wikibreak and will be back on Wikipedia when I've set new running PRs and earned a few medals |
My name
editYou've probably guessed that Jack N. Stock is not my real name. I started with Stock primarily for its use in the motion picture industry: stock footage, stock character and raw stock. This was suggested by someone I met online who was involved in the film industry.
Jack followed because of its frequent use both as a given name and in fiction. If you're ever writing a story and can't think of a name for a male character, or maybe your puppy doesn't have a spot, call him "Jack." It's kind of a stock name.
Finally, I guessed that there are probably plenty of people whose real name is Jack Stock (here's an example), so I decided to use a middle initial to limit the possibility of confusion. N seemed like a good choice, kind of in the middle of the alphabet (14th of 26), and it seemed to me simpler and more dignified than M, which has a fancy extra leg. It's kind of a stock middle initial.

Mild deletionist
editIt seems everyone has taken sides, to the extent that some people have little boxes on their user pages proclaiming themselves as "deletionists" or "inclusionists." I reviewed my AfD statistics on 12 June 2017 and found:
- 41.4% keep or speedy keep votes
- 49.2% delete or redirect votes*
- 9.4% merge votes
*my only AfD response counted by the process as a redirect was actually pointing out that a suggested redirect was inappropriate, implying a delete.
