Hi there. My real name is Kiran.
I'm a mathematician. My research interests involve the action of groups, particularly discrete (not necessarily abelian) groups, on low-dimensional manifolds. Ghys's paper Groups acting on the circle is a beautiful example of the kind of thing I find interesting. Here I am at the Mathematics Genealogy Project.
Besides mathematics, I'm also interested in many other things. I love science, especially astronomy, biology, and psychology; languages; storytelling; philosophy; and politics. (OK, I don't love politics, but I care very deeply about fighting for a better society, and that's what politics, ideally, is all about.) I'm interested in questions such as: How do the stories we tell, and the worldviews we unconsciously drink in as part of the culture we're embedded in, shape our thinking -- and how can we change?
For the most part at Wikipedia I seem to add small bits of information, improve consistency and grammar, and revert vandalism.
