That was unexplained content removal with link pipe to an unrelated redundant article. Please use edit summaries from next time to explain your edits with rationale for the change. — The Herald (Benison) (talk) 18:19, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Low-alcohol beer (Diff ~1213544182)
- To be completely honest, I was just about to replace "alcohol (drug)" with "alcohol by volume" (which I did later) but you reverted it a few seconds earlier. So it was not a test. @The Herald: --94.255.152.53 (talk)
I've been following your recent edits, well over a hundred of them now, all doing the same thing (as above). In a couple of cases, they broke templates (e.g About
, For
) which are meant to redirect readers. I don't see all these links to Alcohol (drug) as particularly helpful; I suspect in many cases, they actually provide a link to the article which is inappropriate for the context of the edited article. In my experience, campaigns to make the same change across a vast group of articles inevitably adds disimprovements to many articles, and for most others, changes of little to no value. I would recommend that you stop doing that. signed, Willondon (talk) 19:24, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry about that, normally I pay attention to these kind of details.. I was copy/pasting in a hurry to edit all articles that were listed in the templates. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 13:05, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Also see MOS:SEAOFBLUE. Not every word has to be linked to other articles. Some of your edits (like this one) are totally unnecessary and redundant. Please read up the links provided and change the editing pattern, lest you might end up causing disruption, ending with a block. Thanks and happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 19:30, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for raising the concern. I added "Alcohol (drug)" to links found in the templates that is used by its article. Since I added it to over 100 articles, I expect that I made a few mistakes. However, I'm done with the process. However, In overall, I'm happy with my edits, and people have reverted over 30 of my edits (sometimes by myself). I'll try to follow General points on linking style better from now on. Happy editing guys. @The Herald: @Willondon:
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Inhalant. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inhalant. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. It appears you are in an edit war on the page "inhalant". Please stop. Edit warring is destructive and disruptive. JustAnAmateurEditor1 (talk) 03:01, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- I did not restore the Inhalant page after you reverted it, please check facts before you accuse people @JustAnAmateurEditor1:. I humbly said that I merged it to other projects. Specifically, I merged it to Draft:Comparison_of_inhalants. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 16:22, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

- Sorry you got templated. It was probably your header that read "Absinthe makes you hallucinate" that made the patroller mistake your addition for vandalism. — Diannaa (talk) 03:08, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

- Thanks all for the great comments and notes regarding the rollback. After another look, with the title of the article and header I was quick to revert based on the header and addition, there were several other topical vandalism actions occurring at the same time. I tend to agree with Diannaa that there is a better header. My apologies for my error.

- @Trlovejoy: I accept your apology, and I'm grateful that you removed the level 4 warning I received from you earlier. I understand that you just made a human error. Thank you. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 03:44, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Trlovejoy: "I tend to agree with Diannaa that there is a better header." -- Next time your intention is to revert specific content that has been added, avoid Wikipedia:Rollback other revisions that are not related, like "Moonshine". The Moonshine section was added after I adde the Absinthe section, so what was the point of doing a full rollback? I noticed that this is a very common behaviour for patrollers (someone reverted all of this today for example). However, it is time consuming for whoever added the text to have to review and add it back themselves. And OFTEN this is missed enough, and then you are the ones who deleted valuable content to the wiki which is counterproductive. Ok? --94.255.152.53 (talk) 18:05, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

Account?
editYou seem to be editing Wikipedia a lot and I was thinking about pinging you but realized that it's not possible to do so with IP's. Certainly there are reasons to create an account and reasons to not create an account but I would say most of the reasons to not create an account can be addressed by choosing a username like "ip_94_255_152_53". So my suggestion would be to create an account, unless you have a compelling reason not to. Mathnerd314159 (talk) 21:56, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
editHello 94.255.152.53! Your additions to Draft:Comparison of inhalants have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source. You must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. Read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

Alcohol
editAlcohol is not generally considered an enthogen. I will be removing your unsupported additions based on the assumption that it is. Skyerise (talk) 18:40, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
@Skyerise: Let's talk about it first. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 18:42, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- No, you should have talked about it first. Please read WP:CATV. Every category placed on an article must be supported by text and citations in the article body. If an article does not even mention the word "entheogen" - or mentions it but does not support it with citations - then the category may not be added to the article. You are engaging in original research. Skyerise (talk) 19:07, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- Also, per WP:BRD, any editor may revert to the status quo if they disagree with your edits, and then you must take it to the talk page and get consensus for your change before pursuing it further. So get consensus on the talk oage. Skyerise (talk) 19:09, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Skyerise: Ok, I understand. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 19:11, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

editI told you above that you have to disuss, not revert. That applies to templates too. I am not the only editor that opposes your attempts to coatrack the template into unrelated articles. Here's your official warning:
Your recent editing history at Template:Alcohol and health shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Skyerise (talk) 19:36, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Skyerise: I'm a bit tired, so it's a bit dramatic with the "edit war" warning for me. However, I wrote that I agreed with you and suggested a template in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Alcohol_and_health#Alcohol_and_religion.
Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Nasal administration, you may be blocked from editing. Cassiopeia talk 04:18, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Broc. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Date rape drug, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Broc (talk) 07:57, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
Hello, you have added some unsourced info and I have removed them. Take this as a warning. Pls provide independent, reliable source if you want to put back the info. You can find the removal info HERE. To provide inline citation pls use the horizontal format of Template:Cite web if the sources are from the web. Thank you. Cassiopeia talk 04:16, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- Again, do not revert again. I have provide you all the remove info above. So you dont need to retype them, but pls provide source for verification as this is the core policy of Wikipedia. If you need help, pls let me know. Cassiopeia talk 04:19, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- I have sent you a welcome message. You seem editing Wikipedia a lot and I do suggest you to register (see the welcome message). You dont need to provide you real name or your email address to register. All you have to do is to create a user name and remember your password (Wikipedia does not store your pass word and if you dont remember your password you have to re-register as a new user). It is beneficial to you and to be registered for various reasons (for one, we can not ping you in other talk page). We are all here to help, but it is difficult to remember IP address instead of a user name. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 04:26, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Alcohol (drug), disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Air on White (talk) 04:36, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

@Remsense: Alcohol and other drugs (AOD) is actually a term, seee AOD. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 01:23, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- I mean, it's certainly a common phrase, but linking to alcohol (drug) and psychoactive drug separately in every article surely does nothing particular regarding that term, and as such is still indiscriminate overlinking. Remsense诉 01:26, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Remsense: Looks like you trashed 7 hours of my work in under a minute of your first complaint. That's gotta be a new record for disrespect. And the "peaceful dove" act on your profile? Yeah, right. Total hypocrite in my opinion. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 01:36, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, it's usually a good idea to ask somewhere before making changes across a wide number of articles so that you don't risk putting a lot of effort into something that might conflict with the Manual of Style or something else you didn't anticipate. It's not like I got a chance to give you a heads-up. Remsense诉 01:55, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Remsense: Ask where?
- I reverted a few articles not related to overlinking. Related: Why did you revert 12 edit for me in LGBT_marketing? --94.255.152.53 (talk) 01:57, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for telling me, that was a genuine mistake on my part, I apologize. Perhaps the Help desk or WikiProject Health and fitness. would be good locales. Remsense诉 02:01, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Remsense: From the lead in Alcohol (drug): "Alcohol, sometimes referred to by the chemical name ethanol, is one of the most widely consumed psychoactive drugs in the world and falls under the depressant category.[11][12] While the terms "drug" and "medicine" are sometimes used interchangeably, "drug" can have a negative connotation, often associated with illegal substances like cocaine or heroin,[13] which is why the alcohol industry may argue that "alcohol is not a drug" (Room et al. 2007).[14] The normalization of alcohol consumption, along with past misconceptions about its health benefits, also promoted by the industry, further reinforces the mistaken idea that it isn't a "drug".[15][16] Even within the realm of scientific inquiry, the common phrase "drugs and alcohol" persists. However, this phrasing implies that alcohol is somehow separate from other drugs. Social workers address this issue by using the term "Alcohol and Other Drugs" (AOD). Paradoxically, despite being legal, alcohol, scientifically classified as a drug, has demonstrably been linked to greater social harm than most illegal drug.[17][18]"
- Can you please undo at least some of all your reverts? It is relevant to link to alcohol (drug) in many articles. I took me 7 hours, if you can spend 30 minutes to undo some of your reverts, I'd be thankful. Best. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 02:06, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but the term "alcohol" is commonly understood among English speakers, and thus shouldn't generally be linked. Again, I wish I had the opportunity beforehand, but spending a lot of time on something does not mean it's less in violation of our Manual of Style. Remsense诉 02:21, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Remsense: While I understand your concerns, here are some of the articles you should undo: Impaired driving in Canada, Benzylpiperazine, Recreational drug use in Kenya, Alcoholism in rural Australia. There are probably more articles, but I let you decide. It'll take you 5 minutes to go through the list, can you please do that?
- Also, you didn't answer my question "Ask where?" earlier. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 02:31, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- I meant for Help desk etc. to be places. And yes, you are right. I will go through and readd the links on articles more clearly related. Thank you for working g with me, I know it sucks to get made reverted, and I was a bit hasty Remsense诉 02:36, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Remsense: While "alcohol" is a general term, the linked article provides a more specific context about alcohol as a drug, which is relevant to the articles I edited. I added alcohol (with or without "alcohol and drugs" or "alcohol and other drugs" depending on the references) in my edit summaries but it's displayed as alcohol. Does it change your mind that many articles should be reverted? It would be great if "alcohol" could be kept. So "alcohol and drugs" is better than unlinking both words.
- Also, when you undo the reverts, please add an edit summary, to avoid someone else reverting my edits in the future.
- Finally, I recommend you to revert articles that are focusing on social harm reduction, sobriety, etc. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 03:05, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- You also performed rollback on my edits for these articles: Risky sexual behavior, Effect of health on intelligence, Alcohol-related crime, Alcohols (medicine). This discussion has taken more than 30 minutes of my time. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 03:08, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

editHi, the words "alcohol" and "drugs" should not be linked as they are common words that everyone understands, see MOS:OVERLINK -- FMSky (talk) 10:24, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @FMSky: While alcohol and drug are general term I search "alcohol and drugs" and "alcohol and other drugs" and replaced them with more specific links:
- "alcohol and drugs" with "alcohol and drugs"
- "alcohol and other drugs" with "alcohol and other drugs"
- But the link targets are not visible in the edit summaries, where they appeared as "alcohol and drugs" and "alcohol and other drugs" respectively. Does it make any difference? --94.255.152.53 (talk) 14:48, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

editHello, I'm Graywalls. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Drug paraphernalia, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please don't use the article as your draft space. Contents you introduce into the article should be sourced. Use your sandbox for this. Graywalls (talk) 18:39, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
Also, please do not use Forbes Contributor articles as a reference. They're considered unacceptable in most cases. Graywalls (talk) 18:39, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
