Book infobox

edit

Welcome to the infobox wars. I had hoped they were over in 2018, but here we are. You could trim the infobox you suggested:

  • shorten the caption, "First edition cover"
  • drop the country which is no surprise given the publisher (is there a link to the publisher?)
  • drop "set in" - the lead has that more precisely, it's probably not what a reader will want to know at a glance
  • perhaps even drop genre

But better make the year a parameter (not hidden in the caption). Please show a shorter version on the talk as a base for talk. I am determined to stay away, per this discussion.

I reviewed the article for DYK at a time when I had not yet discovered that some think that infoboxes are a contentious topic. I realised over the heated discussion on this article. I respect the main author, who left, and Victoria who tries to preserve. How someone can leave Wikipedia over the addition of a few lines of structured information is beyond my understanding, - and what's worse: those who argued for the lines are blamed with the loss of this valuable editor. Not without irony: I also voted against the infobox at the time ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:39, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Giant Baba and Rikidozan

edit

I'm very sorry to ask you this, but can you translate from Japanese to English the six pages on this site about Giant Baba's childhood. They're about his early life and I've search much to find them. You can write all in my talk page. Moreover, there are also more information about Rikidozan's family and early life that nobody had translate yet: 1, 2, 3. Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.12.11.245 (talk) 15:20, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Can you do it?

Osaka Castle

edit

There is the story about gold steal from this castle by Kajisuke (梶助) in 1740. Please, can you write the complete story from a translation of these Japanese sites: 1, 2, 3. Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.8.31.27 (talk) 10:51, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you recently removed content from Sing Sing without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Atique Ahmed

edit

Just FYI, this (note edit summary) is why there was a PoV tag on Atique Ahmed; nothing to do with events in the last couple of days. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:43, 16 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. The tone seems to be fixed? Solid references for him having been convicted have been added, etc. Article could probably still be improved by adding more positive information about him (assuming such info can be found), but I don't see any reason for the NPOV tag. Boshin War

Who was the Imperial commander of the siege at Aizu-Wakamatsu Castle, and the one who meet Matsudaira Teru when she surrended? And the one from Ogaki domain's army who killed Nakano Takeko sometime before? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.244.2.87 (talk) 14:58, 14 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

You are invited to join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sports § Suggestion: Changing "Achievements and titles" order in Template:Infobox sportsperson. This invitation comes as you have been one of the most recent to edit the wrapper template {{Infobox climber}}. CLalgo (talk) 10:00, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please be careful about what you say to people. Some remarks, such as your addition to Talk:The_Grayzone can easily be misinterpreted, or viewed as harassment. Wikipedia is a supportive environment, where contributors should feel comfortable and safe while editing. I asked you to be civil to me before but youre still making comments to other editors. Starting replies with "Imagine being so devoid of media literacy that you can't distinguish between fact and opinion" isnt productive Softlemonades (talk) 19:53, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Was the comment I was replying to rude or productive. Bueller 007 (talk) 20:03, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
It wasnt insulting and there was no point to leaving a message for an IP editor. If you think the start to your response made it better, it didnt. WP:Please_do_not_bite_the_newcomers#How_to_avoid_being_a_"biter" Softlemonades (talk) 20:26, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
It was obviously insulting as it implied that I was clueless of Wikipedia rules on reliable sources despite having been an editor here for a long time. And your opinion is that there's no point in replying to IP editors? Bueller 007 (talk) 20:37, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
And your opinion is that there's no point in replying to IP editors? No I said I thought there was no point in leaving a message on their page Softlemonades (talk) 14:37, 28 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
