I tagged this for speedy deletion as a biographical article about a person that does not indicate how or why that person is notable. If the person really is notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly to indicate why, and also put a note on talk:Evans Knight. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under "Articles".--Sean Jelly Baby? 02:28, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
Please stop removing the speedy tag- adding the word "actor" doesn't change anything because their's no evidence of notability- if you can provide some (IMDb entry, perhaps?), then add it to the article. If you have any questions please ask me on my talk page (click "Jelly Baby" in my signature)--Sean Jelly Baby? 02:42, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

Watch for vandals
editSlavery article: you must be very vary when editing after anonymous contributions and always compare their versions against preceding. In this case the trolls combined two pieces cut from sections of slavery in Asia to make "slavery in England". Your name in the history above them "legitimized" their trick and it would have gone unnoticed for some time, since the text reads really smoothly. mikka (t) 20:57, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

editMay I inquire as to why you blocked me? I don't know what I've done wrong. Dlayiga 06:30, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- I haven't blocked you. You may have been accidentally blocked as a result of a block I applied to a vandal using the same IP address as you are. Since your ISP provides you with a dynamic IP, this may happen occasionally, and has nothing to do with your actions. As described in the blocked error message, in order to help you, I need the IP address reported to you in that message. I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Owen× ☎ 13:35, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Fapic.jpg
editThis image may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Fapic.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. cohesion★talk 23:21, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- The picture I used is from the Mayo Clinic Official Bio Webpage. The picture used on that page is a facsimile. The original is in the possession of my family. I am not sure how to signify this on the copyright information.Dlayiga 04:55, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- No problem, so it sounds like you are the person that has the original family picture, so you are free to license it however you might want. Your options are listed on the Wikipedia:Image copyright tags page. To remain on wikipedia it needs to be some sort of free license, there are a lot to choose from, if you need any help feel free to just tell me what you require from a license and I might be able to help you pick one out. The two I would suggest looking at first are {{gfdl}} or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} Thanks again :D - cohesion★talk 05:03, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

An Esperanzial note
editAs I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.
In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)
Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Another Esperanzial note...
editHi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.
Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

editThanks for uploading Image:Knight8.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Image copyright problem with Image:Evpic.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Evpic.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. Thanks for uploading Image:Portalsofgrace.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Study in Turkey...
editHi. Some universities have their programs in English, therefore you can easily follow courses. It also depends on the city and the subject matter, as well as your finances. I'm from Istanbul and was in Business Administration program and except some Turkish courses (history of independence, turkish lit, etc) all courses (like finance, humanities, math, marketing, etc) were in English. In good schools most of the staff have some degree from US or UK anyway. In good private & some public schools you won't have any difficulty at all.
You can do exchange or take summer courses I suppose, I've met some people from Canada or US that way. I know some friends who study in US and take summer courses in my university. Those courses are credited/accepted/etc in their US universities when they're back. For example my program was fully compatible with an international business undergrad program. You know like AD101, MATH155, things like that.
(If you come, and if the professor still alive, you should take "Ottoman Architecture" and "Byzantine Architecture" courses in my university. A British professor gives this course and he takes you to all ancient locations and cities. It was crowded and we were the only Turks with my wife. I learned so much there)
Additional info: for normal university education, there is also a quota in each program for international students. I read some, you need to have a SAT and then there's a YOS (Foreign Student Exam) which probably is fairly easy. For graduate programs, you'll probably need GMAT/GRE etc.
Let me know if you have more questions. Cheers. --Gokhan 04:36, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update
editAs you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Turkish Lang Reformat.
editHi Kızılderili, I realized what you were trying to do and those textboxes also kind of disturb me. But after your edits, the readability actually became worse for me and there were also some broken lines (just over the "Vocabulary" heading, particularly). I don't know if this may be because we are using different browsers or something. I guess there should be some preferred format for these and I will check the other language articles to get an idea. And by the way, I'm pleased to meet you. Atilim Gunes Baydin 00:59, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:NurJehan.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:NurJehan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:23, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Zabalaza.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Zabalaza.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:02, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

editThanks for uploading Image:Roshanseth.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).
I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.
If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!
If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.
Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 23:51, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
editRead the talk page on Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and do not revert to the wrong dog breed. Somewhere, some way, somehow, somebody made a mistake regarding this picture file, naming it Komondor Westminster Dog Show.jpg. There is no way that this dog is a Komondor. Komondors are huge dogs, many are over 30 inches tall, making them one of the largest breeds of dog. Males are minimum 100 pounds and up. And Komondor puppies do not have a mature mop – coat, so it is not a Komondor puppy. The dog in the picture is a white Puli, a small size mop dog, similar to the Komondor but much smaller.

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello EvKnight13! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 120 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Will Harris - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Stefani Valadez - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU
editHi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:11, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

ArbCom 2019 election voter message
editThe page File:R. T. Moore Center Shreveport.jpg has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image was an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links were updated.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review — JJMC89 (T·C) 20:54, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:R.T. Moore House Shreveport 2017.jpg
editA tag has been placed on File:R.T. Moore House Shreveport 2017.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa (talk) 20:55, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
