Hello Gogo Dodo (by the way I love your username), I just wanted to leave you a note that I unblocked Needtruehelp. They requested a username change and have sworn that they read our guidelines and policies for promotion and COI and won't promote their site any more. Before unblocking them, I checked their contributions and saw a couple of positive contributions which in no way referenced or promoted their own site, with their only negative contribution being the clearly promotional user page they had created (though the user page content did justify your original block in my opinion). Thank you. -- Atama頭 19:57, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks bunch for mopping up that impersonator for me. Btw, did you checked against that IP of his which I've provided? This is not the first time someone from Hong Kong is impersonating me, I've absolutely no idea who that might be so should I start an SPI? Thoughts? Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 07:53, 7 July 2011 (UTC) |
- Thank you for the barnstar! It is an honor to receive one from you. As for the impersonator, you do seem to have annoyed somebody. I don't know of your other imposter accounts (perhaps Dave1186?) as this is the first one I have seen of yours. You can file an SPI with a CheckUser to block the underlying IP for longer than the autoblock and see if there are any sleeper accounts. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:02, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, I do have an idea who it is after going through the IP's contribution history. Indeed, someone from HK (LS C HIST (talk · contribs)) who was reported & BLOCKED for DE, TE & operating a large sockfarm of 29 accts (including 1 goodhand and 1 badhand acct) last year. Although the IPs don't match, his interest in a specific subject using that last IP gave him away. Oh well, I guess this impersonation comes with the job of being a "notable" wikipedian. Forget it, not worth my time and effort to go after him. I forgive him. --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 08:13, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- If you have people vandalizing your user page or attempting to harass you, you must be doing something right. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:16, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

RE: Quell Keith
Quell Keith is listed on the wikipedia page for E1 Music recording artists, and this is my first page, it's not perfect, but it's not bad, i'm planting a seed, I want others to expand on it, and I'm using my iPad, otherwise it would have an image, please, give this page a chance, if he is signed to a major record label such as E1 Music it deserves to stay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.4.81.48 (talk) 16:09, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- If you wish to recreate the article, I recommend that you create a draft article in your user space when you are logged in. The article as deleted did not establish why he is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. None of the previously deleted versions established his notability either. Being signed to a label does not establish his notability, though it does mark an important step. In order for him to be notable, he must have released albums with the label. See the notability guideline for additional details. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:59, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Gogo Dodo please do not keep deleting the list of current merchant cash advance funding companies. In this industries there are only a handful of reputable companies (most listed here). Then thousands or resellers who claim to be actual funding companies and many times are less than truthful with merchants. Merchant Cash Advance Companies Not Spam And Notable
The list of reputable Merchant Cash Advance companies is not spam. It lists the history, size and specialties of each funding company. The description is a valuable resource for those either looking to find a merchant cash advance funding company for their business or a reseller agent to find new funding companies to represent. In this industry many companies service certain niches, such as 1st Merchant Funding does not require credit checks and will finance almost any business. Global Merchant Funding services all of Hong Kong and China & Amerimerchant offers the product in Canada. American Finance Solutions offers a fixed weekly payment that no one else offers. Being a 10-year industry veteran and member of the North American Merchant Advance Association (www.northamericanmaa.org) I guarantee that all the companies listed are actually funding companies and have taken great pains to provide and unbiased snapshot of each. I will add in the North American Merhcant Advance Association to the page as well. Your last edit has been undone. Segriest (talk) 01:20, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Segriest

Article Deletion: Kreayshawn
I believe you should revert your deletion of the article on Kreayshawn for the following reasons.
- The single Gucci Gucci was released by Columbia
- The artist has signed an album deal with Columbia
- The artist has been written about on MTV, and has been mentioned in Pitchfork.
Frankly, I hate Kreayshawn and think it is funny, 'ironic' if you will, for an artist like her, who talks so big, to have her article deleted, but... eh, she probably doesn't fit a7 criteria anymore.

Redirect Katie Young
My dear friend. You have declined the speedy deletion request for Katie Young et al. That is a bit unfortunate and I ask you to reconsider that. For solving a template directing to a dab-page, I made three links on that dab-page to be able to direct people to the right page. Unfortunately, I found out that there were redirects on those names, bringing me straight back to the dab-page I want to avoid. As far as I know G8 is a removal reason for loops, what is the case here. Hope to hear soon! Night of the Big Wind talk 13:45, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Woolwich
Hi,
The trailer for the new urban sitcom is being shot in Woolwich now and the pilot will be shot next year. The pilot will star Geoff Leesley and Ben Dover as the baddie. Can I please ask why we can not proudly connect to Woolwich as it is Woolwich and its local residents that inspired the entire project that has been developed over the last year and a half. In fact two of its creators/cast members were born and brought up in Woolwich and their families still live there today. LibbyW (talk) 00:43, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Just to remind you in case you had forgotten your role.
"Do not be hostile toward fellow editors; newcomers in particular. Remember to assume good faith and respond to problematic edits in a clear and polite manner." We understood that you thought we were advertising rather than being proud of the connection to the area and looking forward to bringing more notority to the area with our stars. We also thanked you any way for your help. I however think maybe the editors should look at the way they handle new comers. Just some feed back for the end of the day. An article about the "legends" and "mythologies" of red-heads.
Hi.
I recently camped with a bunch of people of the red-haired persuasion, and they thought it would be both hilarious and a great treat to the internet community if there was an official wiki on "Gingers," as in, the "mythologies" and "legends".
I would think to have something like this would help cut down on your duties of cleaning this kind of thing off of your site per policy and also convey to your users that you, collectively, do have a sense of humor.
I have a partially written article (primarily free-written; still structuring), but seek permission and verification from the Wikipedia staff that: A) My article would actually be posted to the public, and B) My article would not immediately be taken down.
While I'm sure you get thousands of requests, questions, and grievances each day, I would love to be able to talk with you about this further, in a more private forum (i.e. e-mail, IM, etc.). Alternatively, we could discuss it here, if you wish.
Since I'm new to Wikipedia (outside of using the site for casual research), I'm not sure of the proper channels to go through for this sort of request, so I've defaulted to the first personal moderator message I could find. Please let me know if there is a more appropriate method I should pursue.

While I don't seek to ridicule a particular section of the population, it would be ignorant to disregard that there IS somewhat of a social awareness of, for lack of a better term, "The Legend of the Ginger".
I only seek to both provide acknowledgement to this (again, for lack of a better term) meme in the interest of completeness of the archive and to provide a bit of levity to those that see the subject as derogatory.
I aim to let those that are offended in on the "joke", so to speak. Not to say that being red-haired is a joke, but as far as the general social consensus is concerned, most, in passing, in a friendly manner, would likely lightly jest the red-haired population.
All (literally, all) of the red-haired people I know sought to have this article published in the spirit that it was satire; that it was acknowledged that the nature of the joke is intended to be light-hearted on both sides.
My point is, if an encyclopedia is to record knowledge, then would the encyclopedia be invalidating its purpose by restricting the TYPE of knowledge it records?
I do not seek to deride any group, yet, I believe, that this particular aspect of the social awareness should be documented. I also believe, to the benefit of everyone involved, that it should be recorded in such a style that both conveys the nature of the subject material AND the finer points.
Is it that the site is looking to keep things academic, both in flavor and content?
I hope I've expressed both my intentions and the intentions of the article I have been writing clearly.
Again, I would like to extend the invitation to correspond privately via your choice of correspondence.
Thank You for Your Time,

I've recently tried adding a page for Xccent Park & Recreation. I simply placed a small amount of content to begin with the intention of focusing more time in the next few days to add much more content on this particular company. Adding the company to Wikipedia is in no way a though of advertising on my intention. I'm simply trying to add content on companies I have worked for, or know. Please reconsider.
Content I hope to add for this business in the next few days: Project locations Manufacture lines Associations

Could I get the article that was deleted returned to me for private use?
I've been away since I had last left a message for you and have returned to find what I was working on deleted, without notification via e-mail or otherwise.
I was hoping that I could get what I had worked on sent to me via email, or through any other means so that I may continue working on it.
I realize, now, that Wikipedia is NOT the appropriate venue for this particular article, and would greatly appreciate any effort to return my work to me in such a capacity so that I might store it locally. I was unaware that draft content could be deleted from my unpublished, private space (or at least to be what I UNDERSTOOD to be my unpublished, private space). I had received no apparent notification that what I had worked on, via email or any other means, was deleted, going to be deleted, nor any WARNING that it was going to be deleted, until I logged in today to pull my content off the site and save it locally.
While the actions taken were a *bit* abrupt and frustrating, I would still like to ask, politely, if at all possible, that I might recover my work for personal use.

Traditions
Traditions. Traditions. For most of my life I've had traditions that i've fallowed for my short 14 years, and the ones that I, myself could not fallow are the ones I've seen my family fallow. Every November my Dad would not shave his beard, and I think that you should have a page for others that fallow the same belief. 'No Shave November' has been a tradition for as long as I remember, and I know many people that also fallow the same tradition. If you discuss you wonderful shaving adventure in my school in November people will more than likely laugh or question your sanity. "WTF, well your a fail..."...
I think that "No shave november could blossom into a tradition that last all year! People now make songs, and t-shirts about No Shave November all the time, because it IS a tradition, and should have it's own Wiki page.

There was also information about the death of his sister that we really do not want on his page. Re My mistake
You assumed good faith. It is something that needs to be done more, while simultaneously done to the right users. Wikipedia has a sort of disease on wasting far too much time assuming good faith with SPAs, and always biting the new user who truly wishes to contribute, but I digress...
If it would help, the IP used was 182.178.32.9. A rangeblock might be necessary. Thanks, --Σ talkcontribs 06:20, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Peter_Pepper
I have been trying to create a page for the musical artist know as Peter Pepper. He founded Retard-O-Bot and with them toured the US with the likes of MSI and others. I properly cited all material I put on the page "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Pepper" I had his history, his associations, records labels, news paper articles, information from his websites, etc. I do not understand why it keeps getting deleted. Can you please explain why I can not make a page for Peter Pepper? — Preceding unsigned comment added by GeisterXfahrer (talk • contribs) 01:51, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

I provided a source with a review of him from tampa bay online. He has toured the country with that band. So what if they didnt have a MAJOR record label... people still like him and his music. It is not fair to require a major label or a known indie label to have a musician's information put onto wikipedia... — Preceding unsigned comment added by GeisterXfahrer (talk • contribs) 02:07, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

First of all, I was writing in a neutral tone. The page is a biography of the work that I do. Not an autobiography. I get that I may be self-published but that still doesn't lessen that I'm author. Apparently, you think it does, since by the messages you've left me it indicated that self-published authors have no place on this site as you seem to find all information to our craft irrelevant. Which, ironically, shouldn't be that way. Hi, Gogo Dodo. I put a template on the page of the creator of that school page, User talk:Oldtrowel, which told him what he could do to contest that it was a copyvio — some stuff that involved using the article talkpage, the one you've deleted. I explained further on the school talkpage itself, for the benefit of my colleagues rather than the newbie Oldtrowel, mentioning the Way Back Machine, so they could see that Wikipedia was copypasting the school prospectus, not the other way around. I meant to leave the talkpage for a few days before deleting it, since the material on it was potentially useful. Not that I expect Oldtrowel to come looking for it; he had four edits altogether, in 2006, all within a few days. But students and staff at the school may be nonplussed that "their" article is gone, I thought. (Most likely they won't find Oldtrowel's userpages.) Shouldn't we leave the talkpage for a few days? What do you think? Regards Bishonen | talk 10:05, 2 September 2011 (UTC).
P.S. It's so easy to find these massive school copyvios; most of the so-called school articles are simply copypastes of some prospectus, as the advertisement style clearly indicates. I can't believe WikiProject schools "assesses" them without even bothering to click on the link to the school website, which is always right there on the page, and where the "article" text would stare them in the face if they did. What a swamp the school articles are. A person could flop around in that category forever. :-( Bishonen | talk 10:05, 2 September 2011 (UTC).

Ken Boyd (politican)
Gogo Dodo,
Sorry for bothering you! I noticed that you were an administrator and had previously done some editing on the Wikipedia page of Ken Boyd (politican). I have done a lot of work on the page (I am starting to become interested in local politics and was appalled at the bias tone the page originally had!) and have worked very hard to keep it neutral and well-researched. I would like to do work on Mr. Boyd's opponent, Cynthia Neff, but her page was deleted due to her 'not being important'. In my revisions I have made great strides to uphold the tenants laid out in the Wikipedia guidelines, but today an unknown user (IP address only) has been revising the page to an earlier state where it was poorly researched and full of bias. Of note is the fact that the individual who first put the bias in the article is banned from Wikipedia for having multiple accounts (letsgocrazytogether) and this individual is attempting to revert the page back to that state. The argument is that I have deleted information which was well cited and that Wikipedia is all about adding information, not subtracting. While I agree with this statement wholeheartedly, the user neglects to mention that the information being deleted is not factually correct and extremely bias. In addition, the reversion deletes half of the biography, all of the committee assignments, all of the current goings of the 29 Bypass and all of Boyds committee work. In short, the reversion deletes half the article all while the IP address user claims that Wikipedia should never be about deleting work.
I do not like to see my work wasted and will continue to undo this persons revisions. Could you give me advice or your input on the situation? I am not bias for Mr. Boyd, heck I doubt I will even vote for him. However I want this to be a good source of information and not have my work go to waste. Thanks again and sorry if I am supposed to be speaking with someone else.

I have a question. The person is claiming copyvio but that is not the case. If you go to the website for that information NONE of it is copyrighted. At the bottom it states "All information about Ken C. Boyd was provided by Ken C. Boyd, Ken C. Boyd's campaign staff, or extracted verbatim from Ken C. Boyd's website(s). This website is not associated with any Election Authority. Instead, it is hosted and maintained by Vote-USA, LLC. All data on this site were obtained from various State Election Authorities, the politicians themselves or from their staff or websites. Vote-USA, LLC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization funded by contributions from private citizens. All contributions are 100% tax-deductible." Under Virginia law, all material created by election officials, candidates, or their campiagns is public and freely given. How is that copyvio?

I understand erring on the side of caution. However, even if it WASNT stated in Virginia law then this would still not be a case of copyright. The website states that "all information about Ken C. Boyd was provided by Ken C. Boyd, Ken C. Boyd's campaign staff, or extracted verbatim from Ken C. Boyd's website(s)." Information released by campaigns is widely accepted as free-use and we can see many examples of it everyday. The political cartoon lampooning a candidate over their choice of wording, a SNL skit mocking a candidates television advertisement, even a political rival quoting his opponent's literature. If information such as this, released by a campaign, was in fact copyright, then none of these examples would ever occur. If this information had been present on the website and belonged to the website then we would have copyright/ownership issues. As it is we have information that was publicly released by the individual in question for public use. What better use could that information have than gracing the pages of Wikipedia? Escytherdon (talk) 06:50, 8 September 2011 (UTC)escytherdon06:50, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)} I'm afraid you don't understand U.S. copyright law (which the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia cannot pre-empt, even if such statutes existed [something you have yet to document]). Information cannot be copyrighted, but the presentation of that information certainly can; and every newly created document, under the laws of the U.S., is copyrighted unless a specific exemption applies. Many of the websites you reference have copyright notices right there on the website, by the way. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:39, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Since you two can not agree, please follow the Dispute Resolution policy. At minimum, you should get a third opinion. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:52, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
- The article needs to be reverted to the version before Escytherdon's edits. His previous "Biography" section and the "Non-profit Service" section currently in the article are straight copy paste from http://vote-va.org/intro.aspx?state=va&id=vaboydkenc. I've pointed this out to him numerous times. My reverts are exempt from WP:3RR because I am reverting unambiguous WP:COPYVIO. 75.197.81.122 (talk) 06:00, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have removed that particular section as you are correct that it was a blatant copyright violation. Health and safety concerns
Hi, i want to emphasize the fact that cleaning and being hygienic with your sex toys is absolutely crucial due to so many stories of infections i have heard and read about. this site i referenced to really placed that emphasis on this site they also sell cheap product so there is no excuse to maintain clean toys. i haven't seen much other sex toy sites that advocate cleanliness, please explain why it has been deleted twice, perhaps i can be more specific on where i saw this information on their site for example thank you for your help

Userfy or copy
Please userfy the contents of File_talk:World_Trade_Center_9-11_Active_Thermitic_Red_Grey_Chips.png to
User:Lexein/RedGreyTalk - I think I put instructions there. Thanks! --Lexein (talk) 06:59, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- I just restored it in place and tagged it with {{G8-exempt}} so that it doesn't get swept up again. If you could watch the talk page, that would be great. If the file gets reuploaded, remove the {{G8-exempt}}. If it doesn't remove the {{G8-exempt}} and tag with {{db-talk}} or just leave it until the next time it is swept up. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 07:05, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Removal of Article
Hi,
I just tried to ad an article which was subsequently removed due to external linking etc.
I am a bit unsure on how to submit an article which I have had specifically written for the subject matter.
I have looked at some articles that have been submitted and noticed that they contain links to the persons own websites.
If I link to my blog or same article on my blog is that allowable?
I am not quite sure on how to go about linking etc.
Regards

Sterling Smartware Solution
Dear Gogo Dodo,
Why would you just go through and delete my page without the 7 day notice. I put a good amount of time and effort into creating that page and you simply deleted it, without stating what was wrong with the page and then giving me a chance to correct these problems.. I want the content that was put into that page sent to me and would like to be given the opportunity to fix what was wrong with the original page.

- Re your message: The article was deleted because it was a copyright violation with the content copied directly from the website of the company that you work for. It was also clearly promotional in tone. Due to the copyright violation, it was deleted immediately and I will not restore it. You may ask for a review of the deletion through the Deletion Review process. You can also recreate the article without the copyright violations and without the promotional tone. Before you do so, I strongly recommend that you review Wikipedia's Business' FAQ. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 16:18, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
Dear Gogo Dodo,
If I made the reference to the website how would it be a copyright violation for using the website content. I am not asking you to restore it but I would like the content that I wrote into the article given back to me so I can use it as a reference when recreating the article without the violations stated.

Remove full protection on trivial template, please
Over a year ago you full-protected Template:Merge done as a "highly visible template", which it is not. It's barely used at all. Please remove the protection so I and others can edit it like any other non-crucial template. Thanks in advance. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 21:12, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

The Deletion of Marc Ecko page?
How is it that you managed to remove the Marc Ecko wikipedia page? After years of it being on the site, you arbitrarily deem it promotional...on that standard you would have to remove nearly every biography page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhinoboy1972 (talk • contribs) 00:54, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
