Thanks for uploading Image:Motiva Enterprises LLC logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

I did, I used the template you had added. Did you see INTGAFW's comment here? Good job on that! It's a funny coincidence: I was just looking for information on these things a couple days ago and couldn't find what I was looking for on Wikipedia (they're a nasty and growing problem, including near where I live, and I just saw something on TV about it) -- and then here it is, a new article by you, just what I was looking for. All the best, Antandrus (talk) 00:43, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hey there Antandrus! It’s always good to hear from you. On this one, we both agree. I have been hearing about these too for a while. I want to look into some possible sources I have to hopefully expand this article. This subject is a growing problem that the general public needs to know about for sure. I now wonder, how many times I have come across a trash bag on the side of the road (walking, biking, or riding with someone on a country road), and the bag was the remnants of a lab? Ugh! or Yikes!... You take care! JungleCat Shiny!/Oohhh! 01:33, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Someone is "borrowing" your picture without attribution... Paranormal Skeptic (talk) 20:01, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not bad… actually that’s kinda cool! I released that one into the public domain quite a while back, so photo-wise they do not have to acknowledge my acct unless they want to. They did give credit to Wikipedia.org however which is OK. Another thing that is to me kinda ironic, that exact same make and model shortwave radio was in my possession many years back during the Reagan years (this one I acquired a few years ago, the original my cousin has now). I used to be able to hear Numbers stations on the thing and I never thought back then that it was a communication between governments and spies. How ironic that this same type of analog shortwave receiver photo was selected for the article. He he… Like I said, not bad.  ;-) JungleCat Shiny!/Oohhh! 00:52, 30 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:TexasHistComm.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TexasHistComm.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. GFOLEY FOUR03:14, 1 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:50, 31 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Let's Go Brandon

edit

Great work! Why do you even need to go through AfC? I'd advise you to be BOLD and post this to the mainspace straight away (maybe after the RfD is done so as not to disrupt the process though). But there's definitely encyclopedic merit here. Let's go!!! Kingoflettuce (talk) 01:23, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

What a difference a month makes - I'd have agreed with the consensus at the F Biden AfD in September! & more sources will continue to emerge Kingoflettuce (talk) 01:31, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps I meant to send the above to GlobGenie. Assumed you were the main contributor but obviously you've been here for a while :P Kingoflettuce (talk) 01:38, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Polemic marriage userbox

edit

As you well know, that userbox was deleted in an MfD last year (Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/User:UBX/onemanonewoman_4th_nomination) where the closer stated "Consensus is quite clear ... that these templates ... violate the guideline on userbox content restrictions (WP:UBCR) because they are "inflammatory or divisive" and "propaganda [or] advocacy", as prohibited by that guideline."

Therefore, recreating it by stealth on your userpage is seriously not a good idea for multiple reasons, and I have removed it. Furthermore, re-creating it again (by whatever means) will certainly result in a sanction. Thank you, Black Kite (talk) 09:30, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Don't bother fighting it. You'll only end up being blocked/banned. GoodDay (talk) 00:25, 4 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Custom signature fix needed

edit

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
