Go for it. You realise that this IP is used by about 13,000 people, right? 192.43.227.18 00:06, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

What ip? Be specific please, yes thanks. KOS | talk 00:12, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

What's really interesting is this IP, 208.22.79.251, was blocked and it doesn't even have a talk page, so you can't tell why it was blocked. I do know it is part of the VCU residential network, so who knows how many people can use it. -Eaglescout1984 00:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eaglescout1984 (talkcontribs) Reply

Hey, KOS, thank you for the note! Yes, I've been absent a bit too; had some pretty dramatically difficult "real life" events to tend to in the past couple months, so I haven't done much writing. The last couple days I've been RC-patrolling again on my free time--vandal- and troll-whacking can be surprisingly satisfying. (Hope that doesn't say anything bad about us!) Good to see you around as well! Very best wishes, Antandrus (talk) 01:59, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heh. I was just looking around the UAA guidelines to figure out if that username actually violated policy or not. I've never been involved in a UAA before, so I was reading links from the UAA page that seemed relevant. I actually couldn't find anything that pointed out that the username was a blatant policy violation...So I was about to {{subst:uw-username}} on his talk page when I saw that you'd already blocked him. Thanks for being on top of that; I was getting tired of reverting his edits to Stonewall Jackson.   --MikeVitale 18:28, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes well, the way I read the name was as a play on the phrase "Your mom". Ur=Your, ma=mom, and bitch well that needs no explanation. Happy editing, and thanks for the message. :) KOS | talk 18:33, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Barry Bonds Article

edit

Although editor BoyJack made racist remarks in his edit summary, he actually changed negro back to left fielder. When you performed a revert you (most likely as an accident) changed it back to negro. [2] Just be a little bit more careful. Thanks so much! Icestorm815 02:47, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Too right you are, though negro was added 4 or 5 edits before my revert which caused me to miss it, I don't normally compare diffs that far back unless I have reason to. Happy editing. KOS | talk 02:50, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Slakr's Caffeine Award

For helping out during a time when everyone else seemed asleep, I award you some caffeine for your exceptional effort. I probably would have considered giving you crack, but then you might have start reverting contribs by random people, which probably would have been a bad thing. :P

Keep up the great work, and cheers =) --slakrtalk / 04:15, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Warning templates

edit

Hey David, are you also going to revert the other templates that were redirected without consensus? Also, if there is an ongoing discussion concerning this, could you point me in the right direction to it, because I've been unable to find anything current of that nature. KOS | talk 19:29, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Which other templates were redirected without consensus?
I'm unaware of any ongoing discussion of this nature. It appears that AFUSCO‎ simply came across Wikipedia:WikiProject user warnings/Overview and mistakenly believed that the proposed setup outlined there had been formally ratified. —David Levy 19:41, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've reversed the redirects, and also the unprotections of the templates I unprotected. Evidently this was a large error on my behalf, and I am deeply sorry for the trouble I have now caused. I hope the monobook problems are fixed now. Acalamari 20:33, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry that you felt it necessary not to support my RfA at this time. As you probably know, my RfA did not succeed. I hope I will have allayed your concerns by then, but if not, feel free to comment the way you feel you should. Recent ip vandal...

edit

Seeing as a range block looks unfeasible, It may be a good idea to semi-protect the pages he's vandalizing, for say, an hour or two, so that he gets bored of being unable to vandalize anything and goes away. What do you think? Gscshoyru 20:16, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The user appears to have stopped, so for now I don't think a range block should be put into effect. I'm signing off for the moment if he starts up again be sure to ask me or an other admin again. slakr sent an abuse report to the user's IP provider, hopefully they will do something to help. Thanks for the suggestion, happy editing. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 20:33, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Personal attack

edit

Thanks for your help. Could've reverted, but I just wanted you to see easily without having to dig. I report a lot of vandals, and revert A LOT of vandalism and guess don't make too many friends. Anyways, thanks for helping me out. You have been following right behind me for the last hour or so with requests I've made. I appreciate it. Carter | Talk to me 10:08, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heh, I haven't been following you around, AIAV is on my watchlist, I'm just blocking the vandals listed is all. Happy editing. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 10:11, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Of course not following me around, but I just happen to be the one reporting most at this time of night I suppose. It's my work-shift. Anyways, good job. Carter | Talk to me 10:17, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
WOW, first my talk page, now my user page just got blanked. Anyways, you already blocked that user for different reasons, so thank you. Keep up the good work. Carter | Talk to me 10:52, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uw-delete1 template

edit

Have you seen that this template has changed, but not according to the wp: article Template:Uw-delete1. I am using twinkle, does it have another source for Uw-delete1 ? See User talk:146.115.67.60 for example. (you can answer here). Triwbe 11:11, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I honestly do not know, I don't use Twinkle, however, there was an instance a while back where templates were being redirected without consensus but that was fixed. High use templates are protected against editing, so I'm a little baffled as you said, the template's history does not show changes. On the other hand, I think you may be mistaken based on the example you've provided, I don't use the {{uw-delete}} series I prefer {{blanking}}. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 11:20, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I thought I saw onne of my Uw-delete1 edits looking like blanking. I made some tests and it all looked fine. I guess I got 'confused' :-) Thanks anyhow. Triwbe 11:25, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
No problem, keep up the good work fighting the vandals, btw I've added you to the CVU's whitelist on IRC, happy editing. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 11:32, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hi, could you block Special:Contributions/64.140.26.129 which is the same user that you just blocked [here. Thanks Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 16:44, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, the editor is not currently active so a block isn't feasible. However, please report vandals at WP:AIAV as it is more likely to be taken care of. I'm not always on-line! :) KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 17:27, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
But I believe this ip has only ever made vandal edits- isn't it sensible to block in this case? Gustav von Humpelschmumpel 18:00, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
User started vandalizing again and was blocked. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 18:26, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
