editHello, I'm Intforce. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Siemens, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. intforce (talk) 20:39, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Intforce. Thanks vey much for pointing this out. I had added the relevant reference to the Kongsberg Offshor page - but forgot to add it to the Siemens page. I have now added the reference and replaced he text. Just out of interest (because I am completely new to editing Wikipedia - how did you find my edit? Were you just browsing Siemens or is there a list of recent edits to check? Best wishes Newhavenlad Newhaven lad (talk) 09:59, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for adding the reference. The Siemens page is on my watchlist, because I edited it recently. Welcome to Wikipedia! intforce (talk) 10:18, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
Re: Your message
editHi mate, thank you for your message :)
Makes me smile to hear Wikipedia still has editors such as yourself that are eager to help contribute. Thank you!
To respond to your question: yes, I'd say it'd be safe to remove verification tags if you have verified it successfully. I'll say it one more time: thank you once again for checking your own work, and for your motivation :) Synorem (talk) 18:23, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Proposing articles for deletion
editWhen you PROD an article, please make sure to put the {{subst:Proposed deletion notify|Name of page}}
template on the user talk page of the editor who created the article in order to properly notify them, not on the article itself. Thanks, DanCherek (talk) 16:38, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I am new to editing so still making mistakes and welcome advice / corrections! How do I find out the name of the person who created the article? Is it the person at the end of the 'history' list? Newhaven lad (talk) 17:01, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, that's typically right. So as you can see, I notified Cromwellt for Chuluncayani Adventist University and Timc93 for Agape English Language Institute. Also, new messages on talk pages usually get added to the bottom of the page, not the top, just an FYI. DanCherek (talk) 17:27, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. Very clear and helpful. I am on a very steep learning curve just now! Best wishes Newhaven lad (talk) 17:51, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there - I have been sending 'deletion notify' messages and discovered a fair number of originators are no longer active or have been blocked. I have tried to find the next best person (who seems to have made significant edits near the start of the page's life). Does that make sense? Newhaven lad (talk) 18:12, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

- Hello, Newhaven lad,
- If you expect to tag more articles for deletion consideration, think about learning to use Twinkle. It's an easy-to-learn editing tool used by most new page patrollers and most administrators. Just be sure to set your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator" and then Twinkle will post tagging notices for you on the User talk page of the article or page creator. Twinkle has a lot of other features but you can discover them if you decide to install it.
- Also, if you have any questions about deletion tagging or editing on Wikipedia in general, please bring them to the Teahouse where experienced editors can offer you advice and support. Good luck! Liz Read! Talk! 19:01, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Liz - thanks, very helpful - I have have switched on Twinkle and will explore its features / ask in the Teahouse if necessary - Best wishes - Newhaven lad Newhaven lad (talk) 17:13, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 28
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited United States Children's Bureau, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page George Sheldon. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi
editHi I noticed you starting to edit a while back and had a look today to see how you are doing. You seem to have got the hang of things and I hope you’re enjoying editing. I’m from Seaford though I don’t live there any more. If I can ever help out with anything please let me know on my talk page. All the best Mccapra (talk) 04:35, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there - thanks for the message. Yes - I feel I am getting the hang of things. I have been focusing on 'orphan' pages listed under 'education' (because that was where I spent much of my career). Perhaps because these pages are orphans, they are often quite short, out of date, written by someone associated with the organisation and have limited notability and few references. Having said that, it is amazing what you can find out when you start searching (not always flattering for the individual or organisation!) Thanks for the offer of help - I suspect I will be in touch! One immediate question: if the only connection I can make for an organisation is to create an entry on a 'list' (eg 'colleges in XXX city') [Not a 'category'] - is that sufficient to say I have deorphaned it? Newhaven lad (talk) 12:13, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi - apologies I forgot to add this page to my watchlist so have only just seen your reply. Yes adding an orphan to a list article means you can mark it as de orphaned. I did thousands of deorphanings a few years ago when I was fairly new and found it a great way to familiarise myself with the encyclopedia and its workings. I hope you do too! Mccapra (talk) 14:54, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Great - you have set me a challenge to get to four figures! So far my tally is Deorphaned (159) / Deleted (36) / Failed to secure either deorphaning or deletion (9). (You are right - it is a great way to learn about the encyclopedia) Best wishes Newhaven lad (talk) 15:51, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
