Speedy deletion nomination of User:Pichyapa Kh
editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Pichyapa Kh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion
editThis page should not be speedily deleted because I'm working on improving the stub for the Miro page. This is my first time trying to work on a Wikipedia page so I tried to use my account's sandbox before publishing the actual ones. I'll review the guide closely again. If there is any content that violates the guidelines or should be improved, I will be more than happy to.

Request reason:
I did not intend this account to be promotional. I only intend to share knowledge about existing software and its history
Decline reason:
You edited your user page, which is not article space. Perhaps you confused creating an article with creating an account. There is a slight distinction between an "article" and a "page"; an article is a page but not every page is an article. Wikipedia is not for merely sharing knowledge. This is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion, which we call notability. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it is notable. As you have found, sandboxes are public(though not within the article space) and not immune from policies(like deletion processes). If you have a connection to this platform, please describe what it is(see WP:COI and WP:PAID) and tell us what will be different about your editing, including what edits you intend to make now that you know that, in the short term, you will not be permitted to edit about Miro. 331dot (talk) 08:44, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
@331dot: I have confused the user page with the article. I do not have any connection to the platform. I originally wanted to only expand on the Miro (software) stub currently on Wikipedia. I will rewrite my contribution and remove any parts that seem like promotions or do not contribute to the encyclopedia, and I will correctly contribute to the Miro stub, not my user's page. Pichyapa Kh (talk) 13:49, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
Could you please help reconsider or clarify which parts are unacceptable? I would remove and adjust the content and will not violate it again in the future, because it is not my intention to be promotional at all. I sincerely only want to contribute knowledge. @Fastily: Pichyapa Kh (talk) 06:50, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Unblock requests are to ask for a third party to review the matter(as I did). If you wish to negotiate with the blocking admin instead, you don't need to make an unblock request. 331dot (talk) 08:45, 1 November 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
I understand that I have confused the user page with the article, and some content may seem promotional. However, I do not have any connection to the platform. I intended to expand the existing Miro stub. I will rewrite my contribution and remove any parts that seem like promotions or do not contribute to the encyclopedia. I have researched the topic extensively and included sources and research papers. I will correctly contribute to the Miro stub, not my user's page.

- Can you explain why other editors viewed the content you wrote as promotional? Also, is there anything else you would like to edit about here? I'd prefer if you started with another topic, one that's easier to write neutrally about, first. Elli (talk | contribs) 05:41, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- In my original article, it contained some languages that sounded promotional, and most sources are from the Miro's official website. I have been editing the article and remove any promotional sentences/sections, and I'm finding other reliable sources for the articles too.
- I would be happy to contribute to other topics, but I haven't decided which one I could contribute to yet. Pichyapa Kh (talk) 05:53, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- Can you give me an example of content you'd like to add to that article (up to a paragraph in length) and a source you've found to support it that we would consider both reliable and independent? Elli (talk | contribs) 05:57, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- Evolution
- In 2011, Andrey Khusid and Oleg Shardin created RealtimeBoard to facilitate digital communication for their design agency, Vitamin Group. In 2012, both of the original developers left their primary jobs and worked on Miro full-time. In 2015, their first company hub was opened in Los Angeles, United States.
- Later in 2018, a series A funding of 25 Million dollars was given to RealtimeBoard by Accel. [8] In 2019, the company underwent a major change. [9] Due to the platform’s branding inconsistency, RealTimeBoard was rebranded into Miro, with the name inspired by a Spanish painter and sculptor Joan Miró. The word itself also has association with “mirror”, “look”, and “watch” which refers to a visual workspace. As for the brand’s yellow colour, in colour psychology, it represents boldness, optimism, and energy.
- In 2020, the company received a series B funding of 50 Million dollars.
- In 2021, the company expanded to New York, London, Berlin, Munich, Tokyo, and Sydney. It raised series C funding of 400 Million dollars in 2022 at a $17.5 billion valuation. It had reported around 1,800 employees and 50 Million total users.
- As of 2023, it reported 60 Million users. However, in the same year, it had also had to lay off 119 employees which accounted for around 7% of its global workforce due to overhire and the change of business direction.
- User’s Demographic
- As of 2023, Miro has reported over 80 million users, featured in the Business at work report by Okta as the fastest growing collaboration tool in the UK and one of the highest growth by unique users. The biological gender distribution is around the same at 50% for men and women, and the largest segment of users by age group is 25-34. The highest number of Miro users are from the United States and Russia, followed by Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

@Elli: Hi, would there be an update on this or any recommendations? Thank you so much Pichyapa Kh (talk) 07:29, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Pichyapa Kh hey, sorry for the lack of reply; been a bit busy but didn't mean to take so long to get back to you. Most of the sources you've given aren't really up to the standard we like for articles on corporations. Similarweb is probably fine for statistics (but citing something paywalled in that manner isn't ideal). TechCrunch is a somewhat-reliable source and could probably be used. bne IntelliNews is a bit iffier but maybe could be used. The others aren't really what we're looking for (it's not clear why Okta, Inc. would be reliable).
- Anyway, I'm inclined to unblock, but I seriously suggest editing about something else instead. Will leave to another admin to review. Elli (talk | contribs) 17:42, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Pichyapa Kh, if you'll accept a suggestion, I think you should commit to avoiding the Miro article entirely for now. You can always come back to it later, once you've established yourself as a productive editor. Editing about corporations while maintaining a neutral point of view and avoiding promotionalism isn't easy, and when you start out doing that kind of editing you're making it much harder for yourself to learn the basics of wikipedia editing without accidentally doing something that can get you blocked (as you have now experienced). There are lots of other things you can do on Wikipedia instead while you learn the ropes. -- asilvering (talk) 18:04, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- No worries. Thank you, I understand the concerns and the types of sources more. I will avoid contributing to Miro article for now and look for a new article to contribute to. Pichyapa Kh (talk) 18:14, 12 November 2024 (UTC)

- @Asilvering You said: "Well, the first in the list is currently most of the way through what looks like it will be a successful block appeal, so there's that. If no one with admin goggles gets back to this in the next 24hrs or so, ping me?". I assumed that meant you wanted to help look over this appeal if it was still outstanding, or did I misunderstand? - I meant regarding the discussion at the recall thread. Other admins jumped in with various opinions on that deleted material, so no need for my goggles there anymore. -- asilvering (talk) 16:02, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

- @Pichyapa Kh, can you clarify what connections you have to the topic in general? I understand that you've said that you're not connected to Miro itself. But do you work in a related field, for a related company, etc...? -- asilvering (talk) 16:03, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Some general tips
editOkay, you're free to edit wherever you like, though I do think you should avoid the Miro article for now as Elli initially suggested. I also suggest working straight in article space, rather than making a huge draft in your userspace - this is part of what made your work look like some kind of suspicious spam attempt, I think. While you're getting settled as an editor, it's a good idea to make much smaller changes than you were planning, and to space them out over a broader variety of articles. That way, if someone else objects to your edits for whatever reason, they can easily revert your smaller change and talk to you about it, and additionally it makes it much easier for suspicious recent changes patrollers to believe that you're here to benefit the encyclopedia in general and not to just promote one particular thing. Sorry you got nabbed by the encyclopedia's "immune system" like you did. It's turned up pretty high against the possibility of spammers and various other bad actors.
You might want to join some wikiprojects related to what you're interested in and go through their lists of articles that need attention. For example, WP:COMP is the computing wikiproject. There's a gigantic list of all the maintenance issues in that project here (warning: this is a truly overwhelmingly long list). Category:Stub-Class Computing articles contains all the very short articles in that wikiproject, so it's a good place to find articles that could use expansion. Happy to answer any questions about how to navigate this kind of list, if you're interested but finding them confusing to work from. There are many newbie-friendly tasks here, but finding them in the first place isn't always easy.
If you have any general questions about editing, I recommend asking at WP:TEA. Good luck! -- asilvering (talk) 20:33, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
