Coordinates
editHi Sreifa! I have reverted your edit to Battle of Be'erot Yitzhak because the coordinates you entered were not anywhere close to the battle, which took place in the original Be'erot Yitzhak site in the Negev. Please be more careful in the future, as most villages that were battle sites in that war were moved as a result of the destruction from the battles. Please also use the appropriate edit summary. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 14:42, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
P.S. I have just reverted a similar edit to Battle of Nirim for the same reason. —Ynhockey (Talk) 14:45, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Problems with your DYK entry
editHello. I reviewed your entry, Berl Katznelson, at DYK, and there were some large problems with how you used your sources. You have copied whole sentences and paragraphs without changing any of the wording. An encyclopedia entry must be written in the author's own words, using information he/she has learned from reliable sources. See WP:COPYPASTE for details on this matter. I have removed the copied text from the article. I am still concerned that the same copy-pasting was done with the offline sources I don't have access to. Please see the article's talk page. This article will not be considered for inclusion in DYK because of these concerns. The Interior(Talk) 18:10, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
DYK nomination of Article
editHello! Your submission of Article at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! The Interior(Talk) 22:48, 18 November 2010 (UTC) Also suggest, since you are an archaeology buff, that "tel" needs a short article to link to. The Interior(Talk) 22:48, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
DYK for Tel Zeror
editOn 21 November 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Tel Zeror, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Tel Zeror, an archaeological tel in the Sharon Plain, Israel, was excavated by a Japanese expedition in the 1960s? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Merging articles
editHi Sreifa! Please don't forget to merge the talk pages when you merge articles (as in the example of Ramat Aviv Gimmel -> Ramat Aviv). Otherwise, keep up the good work! —Ynhockey (Talk) 22:45, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Coordinates for historical topics
editHi Sreifa! I noticed that you contributed a lot to Israeli history and archaeology-related topics. I was wondering if you were willing to help with finding the coordinates for some of the places and events listed here. I have been working over the past months to shorten this list and managed to reduce it from a few hundred to 57. The eventual goal of course to reach 0, but the more coordinates I add, the harder the remaining ones become to find. Some entries on that list can be removed entirely, but only after verifying that the exact coordinates cannot be established.
If you are interested in helping, please find the coordinates for as many places as you can (they have to be exact though) via Google Maps, and paste the link here to get the Wiki-format coordinates (alternatively, you can send them to me). Any entries you can find or remove because their locations are not known, would be much appreciated. I am also going to request help from other users. Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 18:38, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- I see you already started working on it :) it is much appreciated. We should try to at least be the country with the least untagged locations (I think the current lowest is 27). Then we can maybe compile some statistics on geotagging, it would be interesting. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 13:34, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Beit Loya/Lehi
editHi Sreifa, I'll be glad to help, but what did you have in mind? Do you want me to edit your sandbox? If you are in need of sources, please tell me which, I do have access to the Tel Aviv University library. Poliocretes (talk) 18:05, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- I sent you an email using the address on your userpage. Let me know if you have not received it. Poliocretes (talk) 13:12, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Re: Coordinates
editHi Sreifa! First of all, thank you for adding coordinates to relevant articles. The effort is much appreciated. I think that Israel is now the most geotagged country (in terms of tagged articles vs. missing). In any case, I looked at the cleanup listing. Still trying to think of what to do with older battles. Can we really determine the exact location of battles from 1000 years ago? I have no idea. I will try to add some coordinates to the modern battles. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 14:18, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think that some of the older sites shouldn't be tagged. There could be some mention of location in the article, and that should be enough.--Sreifa (talk) 10:05, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Re: Clarification needed
editHi Sreifa! I clarified myself on the Aryeh Sharon talk page. About the Beit Hanoun Wedge: I did write it, and also added the tag. The reason is that the sources I used are unclear on the matter, and hopefully someone else has a source that's more clear. The text says:
- The railway bridge was left intact but rendered unusable.
I'd also like to know how that happened. Could be that they destroyed the tracks or something, but it's not clear from the source. I hope the explanation was helpful.

Weinraub
editHi Sreifa, generally "Weinraub" means "theft of wine" in English but it could as well be a personal name so it depends on the context. Can you please tell me the whole sentence where that word appears? De728631 (talk) 19:50, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, I think you lost a little letter t while checking his original name: Weintraub with a t means "wineberry" and is a quite common name. See also this advertisement in German. I've fixed the names in the article. De728631 (talk) 13:04, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- Or for example his own website. De728631 (talk) 13:26, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Light vs. Lighthouse
editPlease note that per the Lighthouse WikiProject practices, it is not appropriate to replace Light with Lighthouse as the title (or vice verse). The nautical term almost exclusively used is Light. --Muhandes (talk) 08:43, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Roseau Cathedral
editOn 30 June 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Roseau Cathedral, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the stone pulpit in the Roseau Cathedral (pictured) in Dominica was carved by prisoners who were kept on Devil's Island? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
vandalism
editWhat to do when a page has been repeatedly vandalized?
- If it is vandalism by a particular editor, you should start by issuing warnings. When the editor has been sufficiently warned, you can report to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, where an admin can block, if appropriate.
- If it is vandalism by multiple editors, you can ask for page protection. However, unless I'm misreading the history, I only see a couple reverts in the last week, which is not normally enough activity for page protection.

editI reverted your addition of the {{BLP unsourced}} tag as there are references, but not in-line citations so the tag I added is correct. Jezhotwells (talk) 20:51, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Suggestion for handling dead links
editI noticed you recently removed dead links from Ta'ayush instead of finding replacements. Doing so makes it more difficult to find the sources if it gets buried in the edit history. You probably don't know, but you can use the Wayback Machine to find archived copies of most webpages (see WP:Rot#Repairing a dead link). Please let me know if you need any help using it. –Temporal User (Talk) 01:22, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

I appreciate your edits at Modiin Energy, but "white paper"? Ouch. Is there a policy against including Template:TASE and other externally-linked ticker symbol in article prose? It's quite common at other articles. Also, regarding your change of "license" to "site," the sources use רשיון. Was there a particular reason for the change?—Biosketch (talk) 10:16, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hi- I think, considering the number of TASE links the article contained, WP:SOAP applies. I should have written, that the article is not a financial report... IMO, רשיון is not accurate in Hebrew, either, even though that is how ME relates to the drilling sites. It seems like a PR term that sidesteps the fact that the sites are actual places where the ocean floor is being destroyed. (I'm not as green as I sound here, but I do believe in sustainability...) --Sreifa (talk) 11:21, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- It depends on the context. In an article about Modiin Energy it's natural to call the drilling sites "licenses," because that's how reliable sources refer to them when they talk about Modiin Energy. See, for example, this article from yesterday, which consistently refers to licenses, because these companies are getting rights to drill at these places. Now, it's true that articles like this one (not sure if it's reliable), discussing potential Hezbollah aggression against Israel's energy assets, don't portray the fields as licenses, but that's because they're being reported on in a different context – not about rights to drill with legal constraints and expiration dates etc., but about assets belonging to a country collectively.—Biosketch (talk) 07:04, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
A WP article should be factual, not business-oriented, as are the sources you refer to. I see no reason to to mention that the drilling at the sites named is done under license, but the named sites are drilling sites. Places that have been named by the drilling companies. Licenses are usually numbers. I'm not going to argue this futher, this is just my opinion. --Sreifa (talk) 07:29, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Your proposed rewrite of Samar Alami

Sandboxing copyright problems
editI'm afraid that I've had to delete User:Sreifa/anafa and remove the copy of older versions of Ruth Amiran and Yemima Avidar-Tchernovitz from your sandbox. You cannot copy an article that is blanked for copyright problems in your userspace; every page on Wikipedia must comply with copyright policy. If you wish to rewrite an article, but do not wish to start from scratch, you have to do it somewhere else, such as in a word processor document. (I can't recommend that process, as there is a chance of creating a derivative work, as happened with Samar Alami; the best practice is to take the sources and start over.) I'm sorry that this situation has arisen, but it is essential that we comply with these policies to avoid creating legal problems for the Wikimedia Foundation, our contributors, or our downstream reusers. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:16, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
