Hey there and I'm sorry if I get anything wrong, I'm still new to this Talk Page thing. Is there anything special I have to keep in mind for a Did-You-Know nomination? Cheers and thank you for the nice words! @DannyS712: Ted52 (talk) 13:58, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Ted52: I couple of things. The biggest one is that you have 7 days from the 27th, when the draft was accepted, to nominate it for DYK. You can see the instructions for nominating at Template talk:Did you know#Instructions for nominators, but if you'd like any help writing a hook, etc just let me know. --DannyS712 (talk) 17:06, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712: Right, thank you for the explanation! I'll abstain from seeking a nomination, as I do not really see that mind boggling a thing that is interesting to anyone outside of this very specific niche of military historians. Once more, thank you! Ted52 (talk) 17:11, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Ted52: in that case, is it okay with you if I nominate it for DYK later today? --DannyS712 (talk) 17:13, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712: Wow, I am honored. By all means, be my guest! I appreciate it! Ted52 (talk) 17:31, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Ted52: Please see User:DannyS712/sandbox#DYK for my draft. Can you help me with the sourcing? Feel free to edit it --DannyS712 (talk) 20:26, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712: What do you think about that one? Your original DYK fact wasn't quite correct, as the unit wasn't as much disbanded as it was renamed, which isn't nearly as impressive. I instead went for the fact that they took only ten days to cut across their assigned operational area. Ted52 (talk) 14:13, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Ted52: absolutely! The new one is more interesting, and also corrected, and has a reference! With your permission, I'm going to nominate this for DYK. Just let me know --DannyS712 (talk) 17:50, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@DannyS712: Yes, I am totally on board with this. Now you got me invested and I hope it's good enough to be accepted, haha :) Ted52 (talk) 18:02, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Ted52:   Done. See Template talk:Did you know#XIX Army Corps --DannyS712 (talk) 18:11, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

DYK nomination for XIX Army Corps

edit

Ted, I see you have put a lot of work into the XIX Army Corps article. I want to help move it forward at Template:Did you know nominations/XIX Army Corps. I hope we can get this featured in DYK. Thanks in advance. Flibirigit (talk) 02:09, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Flibirigit: Hey there! Thanks for the offer. They didn't really care for it the first time around, so I don't have much hope for the second time. But sure, sounds fun. Ted52 (talk) 05:19, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Ted, do you have any information you can add to the XIX Army Corps article? There are a couple sections without text that we should either complete or delete. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 21:29, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

DYK for XIX Army Corps

edit

On 19 July 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article XIX Army Corps, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the XIX Army Corps represented Germany as it ceded Brest-Litovsk to the Soviet Union in the German–Soviet military parade (commanders pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/XIX Army Corps. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, XIX Army Corps), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

 — Amakuru (talk) 00:01, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Great work, your first article. It's also lead hook (and will be until the next pictured one comes) on Portal:Germany. I haven't seen such a detailed ref list as your user page. Danke! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:29, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Amakuru: @Gerda Arendt: Cheers, glad to see it worked out in the end although I had already given up on it. I acquired some new books recently and I'll see if I can add new stuff to the article. The pressure is really on now. Ted52 (talk) 09:57, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Congratulations on the DYK, and keep up the good work - hopefully we'll see a lot more from you in the future!  — Amakuru (talk) 10:01, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Go ahead, don't feel pressed, please. I am sure it will make the stats ;) - I think you should proceed to Good article (GA, my initials). - Anyway, how do you feel about an infobox, such as XLVII Panzer Corps has? To make it a bit easier to know at a glance where to put it in time and place. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:05, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Gerda Arendt: Oof, I'm a noob, chief, I don't know how to do infoboxes. But I'll try, having one would probably be cool! I'll look into it, thanks for the tip. Ted52 (talk) 10:14, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
I can do it for you, just tested the waters. Some find infoboxes detestable ;) - What I did was finding more links to the article, my habit on DYK day (and I don't have a DYK today while I have one more days than not, tomorrow Rolf Riehm). I think we need some disambiguation page for all these XIX Army Corps (disambiguation) in different countries, - what do you think? Wir können auch deutsch sprechen, aber es sieht für andere etwas nach Geheimnis aus. So German only with translation, I suggest. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:29, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Whatever language works. That said, I initially even submitted my article under "XIX Army Corps (Germany)", and someone else moved it onto the one without any parentheses and made "XIX Army Corps (Germany)" into a redirect. It is not obvious to me why, but I must admit I didn't bother to check back with them. I have no issues with moving it back and creating a disambiguation page. Also, on another tab I'm editing the article right now and have set up an infobox. You can tell me what you think in a few minutes when it's all ironed out - so no need for you to do it yourself. Seems to work well enough. Ted52 (talk) 10:35, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Article name: while I think that (Germany) or (Wehrmacht) would help, don't move today!! (Or we'll have to add statistics, and my math is bad.) I wouldn't even move tomorrow, because this 19th corps may be the primary topic for them. (It's usually JHunterJ who does such muves, saying "precise enough".) Just create the dab eventually, or I can do it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:42, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
I won't, no worries. I'll let the veterans do it. Have a great day. Ted52 (talk) 10:46, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
(ec = edit conflict:) One more: Panzer Group 2 is bolded like a redirect, but isn't one. Two options: change the redirect to point here, or replace the bold name by a link. - After ec: understand, will see what I can do. - I saw that the name was changed when someone moved it from draft. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:50, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Disambiguation: I added it to XIX Corps. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:38, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Ted52, thanks for sticking with this nomination even though it took almost seven months to reach the front page. I know the original hook wasn't chosen, but I the alternate hook with the photo did get 7,601 page views yesterday. I hope you keep on writing! Flibirigit (talk) 04:05, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
I only looked at the main aricle, stats as I predicted ;) - I entered it there, and next time you can do it yourself! (Sorry for typos.) Two things you might want to do when finishing celebrating: add infoboxes to other related corps, and get rid of "more citations needed" tags in some of them, because I bet you have the citations to be added. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:45, 20 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Anti-Comintern Pact, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Invasion of Manchuria (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Anarchism

Hi Ted52,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 06:26, 23 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Mark Zuehlke

Hello, Ted52,

Thank you for creating Mark Zuehlke.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The reference cited for this article is determined as a 'user generated source' (ie., readers opinions) and hence, unreliable. Reliable sources need to be found. Consider Canadian national library and military archival material

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Mark Zuehlke moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Mark Zuehlke, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. New pages

edit

Hiya - thanks for the new articles! I tagged 'em for more sources simply because they could do with an additional source or two, so do feel free to find any other reference or even untag 'em if you feel that's all the source that can be got (generally folks look for three sources for WP:GNG). I'd also perhaps consider flinging a project tag on the talk pages? Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 12:01, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

And a project tag for the 399th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht) article would be nice, too! Also, please do remember categories, 'cos they're how people can find articles by subject etc... Thanks again for the new articles! Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 13:49, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
AND the other articles! I'm reviewin' 'em all, but they really could use project tags! Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 05:45, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

New page reviewer granted

edit

Hi Ted52. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. November Articles for creation backlog drive

edit

Hello Ted52:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 1100 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:25, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

edit

Hello Ted52,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Reminders:
