LaQuan McGowan
American football player who does not satisfy general notability or sports notability. The subject did not satisfy the old version of gridiron football notability, which has been dropped, because it does not appear that he played professionally.
There was a draft in draft space, which was then copy-pasted into article space, and the draft was blanked, but the draft has now been restored. A history merge has been requested for this version in article space.
The text of this article says nothing about significant coverage by independent sources. A review of the references shows that the first two are a database entry and a YouTube page and so are not significant or secondary. The third is an article in an arena football e-magazine, which is not independent because it is promoting arena football (and there is no record that he played). The fourth reference is a 404 error.
Number | Reference | Remarks | Independent | Significant | Reliable | Secondary |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | espn.com | A database entry on college players | Yes | No | Yes | No |
2 | Youtube | Discussion on Youtube | Yes | No | No | No |
3 | arenafootballtalk.com | Story about signing | No, because electronic magazine is about arena football | Yes | Yes | No |
4 | carolinacobras.com | Has 404 error | No | No | No |
There is a draft. The draft can be left standing. He might play professionally and be covered by the hometown daily newspaper. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:05, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

- Keep. I'd say he probably passes WP:GNG with the following articles: The green giant: One TD catch made LaQuan McGowan a cult hero, an extremely in-depth article from the Waco Tribune-Herald; 400-pound Baylor TE LaQuan McGowan wants to be a pro wrestler after the NFL from SB Nation; Baylor’s 410-pound LaQuan McGowan scored a touchdown, then trolled a referee from The Washington Post; LaQuan McGowan, Baylor's jolly green giant, is as personable as he is large due to time at Boys Ranch from The Dallas News; Whoa. Baylor TE LaQuan McGowan was absolutely huge in high school from USA Today; this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this from The Austin American-Statesman; this from Yahoo; and many other articles that can be found on google. - Keep - It's tough to evaluate all of the articles BeanieFan11 posted because of paywalls & such, but the Waco Tribune-Herald and Dallas News pieces are SIGCOV. Hatman31 (talk) 02:59, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- Keep passes GNG. the Waco Tribune-Herald article, Dallas News article, the Arena Football Talk article are significant independent coverage (The fact that the one electronic magazine is about arena football does NOT exclude it from being independent coverage. It is not directly affiliated with the subject or his team). Also other paywalled articles presented by Beaniefan are likely GNG appropriate as well. Frank Anchor 16:47, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
