Subway service icons
editI don't think it's the best idea to use subway service icons here. They don't add much (except looking pretty like MTA bus maps); the list would be better served by using the templates at Wikipedia:WikiProject New York City Public Transportation/New York City Subway/Lines. This way, service time information is included as well, and any service changes can be made quickly. Larry V (talk | e-mail) 23:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- That because some reposted or copy and paste some of the sections to be place here with out writing some information about the page. Unless if nobody improves or taken care of this page. It will be put up cleanup tag, it is simple as that. BWCNY 08:37, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm starting to rewrite the table to be more like the other boroughs, which generally don't mention the subway stations (the descriptions come from the schedules), though, if someone wants to add the stations too, I agree with you. I don't know if it's necessary to even show the services; a link to the station might be good enough. --NE2 08:10, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- You could add little bit more detail on where is the exact terminal location (e.g. street, major attraction, nearby or at a transportation station) instead of putting a neighborhood name next to the bus route. That would improve a lot on this page or any other related page. You may also add service information to it and it's not irrelevant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BWCNY (talk • contribs)
- I don't feel the exact intersection is encyclopedic, in part because it can change much more frequently than the general routing. It probably is useful to link to a subway station though if it ends there. --NE2 09:07, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Table columns
editDoesn't it make more sense to list the route names first, rather than the operators? Larry V (talk | e-mail) 10:25, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly. I got the impression from the discussion on WT:NYPT that the operators are important enough to split the articles about operations though. --NE2 10:29, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- But wouldn't it still be better with the route names first? Larry V (talk | e-mail) 10:19, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you care to change it, feel free. --NE2 11:00, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
QBx1
editPlease stop adding the QBx1 here; it's on List of express and multi-borough bus routes in New York City for a reason. --NE2 04:36, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Zones
editThe four zones or areas established in 1936 were as follows:
- A Astoria or Long Island City (9 routes): Triboro Coach Corporation until 2006 - Q18, Q19, Q23, Q29, Q33, Q38, Q39, and two others? (Q45 and Q47 may have been assigned then, though they weren't operated until 1939)
- B Flushing: North Shore Bus Company until 1947
- C Ozone Park: Green Bus Lines until 2006
- D Jamaica (6 routes): Bee Line, Inc. until 1939; North Shore Bus Company until 1947
Other local companies were:
- ex-Jamaica Central Railways lines: Jamaica Buses 1933-2006
- ex-New York and Queens Transit Corporation lines: Queens-Nassau Transit Lines 1937-1957; Queens Transit Corporation 1957-1986; Queens/Steinway Transit Corporation 1986-1988; Queens Surface Corporation until 2005
- ex-Steinway Railway lines: Steinway Transit 1938-1986; Queens/Steinway Transit Corporation 1986-1988; Queens Surface Corporation until 2005
Missing numbers
editPresumably Q60 and up were assigned to avoid conflicts with lower numbers. --NE2 16:07, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
March 2008 re-labeling

Route overhaul (continued)
editI'm going to start it---but with the express bus article first. This will come later. BWCNY, I get you. --AEMoreira042281 (talk) 04:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Will do it tomorrow, but I'm not sure if it should be THAT complex. --AEMoreira042281 (talk) 05:28, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Beginning it now. --AEMoreira042281 (talk) 04:09, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm proposing a standard format for route tables across all pages. You can read it here. Comments are appreciated. Pacific Coast Highway {talk • contribs} 01:31, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

"Extended to" in route notes/history
editWouldn't it be better if that was more like "extended from"? Example: Q45 - we already know it goes to Atlas Park (now a redundant entry, being a terminal and "extended to"), why not make it "extended from Eliot Ave" as this gives a bit more info? But, it may take some "digging" to find out where some routes were extended from, though.

Notes/History split?
edit@DanTD, Epicgenius, Tdorante10, and SkipperRipper: Do you think it makes sense to split the history/notes section like what was done on the List of bus routes in the Bronx? Thanks.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:41, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- I'm willing to consider it. My greater concern right now is the disjointed format of the List of express bus routes in New York City, which squeezes all the notes to the right side of the page. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 21:53, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- What is your suggestion for that page?--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:57, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know. I tried to do something with that myself, but it didn't work. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 22:43, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- What is your suggestion for that page?--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:57, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: Yes, that makes sense. It would make the notes section a bit less cluttered. @DanTD: The thing with this format is that it's going to have to be revamped anyway when the new Staten Island bus routes start running on August 19. At that point, the existing Staten Island bus routes will be moved into the "Former bus routes" section, and then we can split the histories and notes for all of the rest of the boroughs. There's really only one historical note for the new Staten Island routes, anyway: that they all started on August 19, 2018. epicgenius (talk) 23:58, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I think that is a good idea for all the local routes' pages. And a route history section is already on the Nassau page too (one of my "main" pages). Sorry I haven't been around much lately, but THANKS for including me here, KG! --SkipperRipper (talk) 19:45, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Bus changes from 1956-1957
edit@DanTD and Tdorante10: As I am sure you have seen, I have added a lot of information on the saga of the 1957 bus cuts. I would like to include more information, such as the holding of a public hearing, the lack of public involvement, and opposition and proposed legislation from State Legislators. This is too much to add in the history section here as it does not relate to a specific route. I think we should create a draft to turn this article from "List of bus routes in Queens" to "Bus routes in Queens" with a history section describing major changes in service, such as the 1935-1936 bus zones, the conversion of streetcars to buses, the NYCTA takeover in 1947, the 1956-1957 changes, the 1988 changes for Archer, the 2010 changes, and other such changes. This will be a lot of work, but I think that this is possible, since we have all done extensive research on Queens buses. I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks so much for all the work that you guys have done on Queens buses, and on buses throughout NYC. Stay well both of you.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 16:16, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- If anything, the route history section should be split off to a new section, like the lists in the other four boroughs. Even in my attempt to reformat the route list on North Shore Bus Company, I've been trying to minimize these details. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 16:52, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- I agree with splitting off the route history section. @Tdorante10, SkipperRipper, and Epicgenius: Do any of you agree with my proposal, or do you think we should stick to splitting of the route history section? Thanks.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 19:37, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- Hey KG, thanks for asking for my input. I am OK with the sep. history section. It's already been that way on the Nassau page as far back as I can recall and makes the route list cleaner. --SkipperRipper (talk) 03:11, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Kew Gardens 613, I agree with splitting the history columns and creating unified sections on major changes in service. But I think we should also do the same for the other five NYC bus lists. If possible, we should split the individual route histories into the bus routes' respective articles, then include a summary here. epicgenius (talk) 13:03, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

1980s Study
edit@Tdorante10 and Epicgenius: I never got around to adding information from the mid-1980s study, which can be found here.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 14:57, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613, that is interesting, thanks. Maybe relevant details from the mid-1980s study can be added to some of the bus route articles as well. – Epicgenius (talk) 17:30, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
Proposed bus routes from first draft
editSadly, as the article already exceeded its maximum post-template include size, the following table had to be deleted. It contained the proposed bus routes from the first bus redesign. Epicgenius (talk) 17:33, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
In December 2019, the MTA released a draft redesign of the Queens bus network with 77 routes.[31][32] The routes were given a "QT" label to avoid confusion with existing routes. The "QT" prefix was tentative; in the final plan, all bus routes would have been labeled with "Q", similar to the existing routes.[33]: 24 There were to be four route types:
- High density - routes connecting highly populated corridors, with limited stops every 1 mile (1.6 km)[33]: 25
- Subway connector - routes connecting one or two neighborhoods to subway hubs, with a limited-stop section between the subway and the relevant neighborhoods[33]: 27
- Intra-borough - routes connecting several neighborhoods to subway hubs[33]: 26
- Neighborhood - routes connecting several neighborhoods to subway hubs and important destinations, typically at lower frequencies and higher stop densities compared to intra-borough routes[33]: 28
The final redesign was initially expected in mid- or late 2020,[31][32] but the first draft attracted overwhelmingly negative feedback, with 11,000 comments about the plans.[34] The redesign was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City.[35] Planning resumed in mid-2021.[36][37] The original draft plan was dropped,[38] and a revised plan with 85 routes was released on March 29, 2022.[34] The new plan retains the "Q" prefix and preserves most of the existing routes. However, the new plan still contains significant changes compared with the existing bus map; only the Q70 SBS was not modified at all. In addition, 11 routes will be eliminated, 20 routes will be created, and 29 others will be truncated, extended, or combined with other routes.[34]
