Distance/speed query
editHi. I moved this from the article. where it was raised by 86.7.249.151:
- at that time the Inn was around two hours from London by coach (?? - it's 6 1/2 miles from Charing Cross which is 2 hours walk) and the area had its fair share of wealthy travellers.
I simply don't know what the answer is - how fast did a coach go, is this a fair point? Dunno - do you? cheers DBaK (talk) 14:18, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- Comment: mind you, "Traditionally they (coaching inns) were seven miles apart but this depended very much on the terrain." I suppose your horses could be knackered enough, having dragged the coach (how big a load??) up to Hampstead, to need a change by then?? Actually though the whole article is rather woefully short on citations anyway at the moment so anything that nails it all down a bit better would help. DBaK (talk) 14:25, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
