Request for Interfaith review of Evaluative diversity page

edit

Dear Wikiproject: The Evaluative diversity page makes a case that the major arguments about evaluative diversity are themes common to various religions. It cites passages from various sources to make that case, but there may be more appropriate passages that were not cited (I am more of a scientist than a scholar of religions). What is the right way to request that people who are more familiar with various religions help to identify appropriate citations? Langchri (talk) 02:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request for comment on the definition of christophobia

edit

Hi wikiproject. I've challenged the neutrality of the Wikipedia article Anti Christian Sentiment [[1]] The word christophobia does not belong there. The page discusses hatred and intolerance towards christians. Phobia is defined by Wikipedia as a fear of something [[2]]

The reference given is a dead link that goes to a biased source - Council of European Episcopal Conferences [http://www.religiousintelligence.co.uk/news/?NewsID=2930.

I found a neutral source, the Phobia Dictionary [3] on http://www.blifaloo.com/ Stronger references are not available. I searched Oxford Dictionary, Merriam Webster, The Free Online dictionary, among others, none had a definition for christophobia. Likewise, a search of the publication archives of the American Psychiatric Association turned up nothing.

I respectfully request the word christophobia be removed from the Anti-Christian Sentiment Page.

Christophobia currently redirects to anti-Christian sentiment, even though you don't want that article to mention that term at all. A likely solution would be to create a new article at Christophobia specifically to explain that term, and what it has been used to mean, and by whom - since you say it is something different not covered by "anti-Christian sentiment". Request for comment on Biographies of living people

edit

Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:

Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, many wikiproject topics will be effected.

The two opposing positions which have the most support is:

  1. supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
  2. opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect

Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.

Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced BLP articles if they are not sourced, so your project may want to source these articles as soon as possible. See the next, message, which may help.

RfC - prefixes in article title of Eastern Orthodox officials

edit

An RfC is currently open (Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(clergy)#naming_convention_associated_with_Eastern_Orthodox_officials) regarding the appropriateness of having position titles in the article title of religious Eastern Orthodox officials. Commentary would be welcomed, as the WP:NCWC talk page has a low level of activity.--Labattblueboy (talk) 21:03, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ammended: The proposal currently tables is to remove of all prefix religious titles, positions and/or honours from the article title.--Labattblueboy (talk) 21:03, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jerusalem

edit

There is currently a discussion taking place at Talk:Jerusalem over how the article should word certain issues. Some editors want the word "proclaimed" to be added to the first sentence of the article to describe it as the "proclaimed capital" of Israel as the international community does not recognise it as the capital of Israel, others disagree and think the status quo which has existed for about 3 years should remain (something that has been debated many times over the years but retained), and several compromises have also been suggested. The issue has now also spread to other matters, with some editors wanting it to say "proclaimed flag", "proclaimed mayor" , "proclaimed coat of arms" etc, to also highlight the fact the international community does not recognise the status of Jerusalem. This matter could have implications for other articles if changes are made and a similar pattern followed. So input from other editors would be helpful. Proposed MOS for religion

edit

There is now a proposed general Manual of Style for Religion and other articles relating to ethoses or belief systems at Wikipedia:WikiProject Religion/Manual of style. Any input would be welcome. I personally believe at least one of the reasons why many articles in this field have been as contentious as they have been is because of lack of such guidelines, and would very much welcome any input from others to help come up with some generally acceptable solutions to some of these problems. Category:Interfaith topics is mentioned in the Scope section of the project page. It's a non-existant category. It needs some filling, removal of referances, or relocation of mentions to a todo list?

Discussion at RSN about Robert Almeder

edit

There is a discussion at the reliable sources noticeboard about whether an article on reincarnation by Robert Almeder, professor emeritus of philosophy at Georgia State University, is a reliable source for the article on Ian Stevenson (1918–2007). Several editors have objected to it because Almeder published it in Journal of Scientific Exploration, a journal that deals with anomalies (fringe issues). Uninvolved input would be very helpful. See Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#Robert_Almeder. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk) 19:19, 18 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

December 2015

edit

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place, I do not know my way around Wikipedia and its protocols at all. I am alerting you to the fact that an article of interest to you (and you are marked as this article being relevant to you) is currently being debated for removal/merging. It is being argued (I believe wrongly) that the article is irrelevant and has no place in having its own page, so I do think someone from your group should keep an eye on the discussion on the talk page. They already merged the article today into another article without any discussion but I managed to get an admin to move it back again. Conversation has now started on the talk page and I think it is definitely something you will want to keep an eye on. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

edit

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
